Hey there, future doctors! If you're reading this, chances are you're gearing up for NEET 2025. I am Vraj and I gave NEET in 2024. It was a tough year because of all the NTA and ReNEET scam but the only thing that saved me on that exam day was my habit of taking tests and how I was able to manage time that day. Those were some intense days when I look back, but they paid off well!

First off, let me say - you've got this! I know the journey ahead might seem daunting, but trust me, with the right approach, you can not only survive but do miracles in your NEET preparation. Thanking all my teachers from whom I learned and adapted the best ways to crack my exam.

Here are 5 game-changing pieces of advice for acing your NEET 2025:

1. You don't need to pack your bags for Kota

Some people might call it a controversial opinion that staying in your city and home can give you the best results. Every year we see some people move to Kota and other cities in search of better tuition and whatnot. I know - you've probably heard countless stories of toppers who credit their success to studying in these educational hotspots. But here's the thing - success in NEET isn't about where you study, it's about how you study. You might be able to do a lot better staying in your hometown; join a good coaching center, practice every day, and be consistent.

The distractions of a new city can move your focus onto so many unnecessary things that can be done later in life. Also, relocating for coaching can be very expensive, let alone managing a new home, new food and the loneliness. Instead of stressing about the NEET syllabus, my friends who went out had to deal with the stress of cooking, laundry, and managing expenses. I stayed put in my hometown throughout my preparation, and guess what? It worked wonders for me. Having my family and friends around was like a reminder of how important it was to crack the NEET exam.

2. Choose a good coaching center and then follow it completely

In my batch, we had so many resources including books, notes of coaching, notes from different coaching centers, online papers, videos etc that it became stressful at one point. It felt never-ending. In the world of NEET preparation, there's no shortage of coaching and material options. Every institute will claim to have the secret formula for success, and it's tempting to try them all. But here's a piece of advice that saved me from a lot of confusion and wasting time - stick to one coaching center, and stick to it well.

Different coaching centers have different teaching styles and ways of explaining concepts. Jumping from one to another can lead to confusion and inconsistency in your understanding. By focusing on one, you can invest that time in actual study and practice. Stay close to your teachers and seek help whenever needed. Remember, the grass always seems greener on the other side. But in NEET preparation, it's not about finding the perfect coaching - it's about making the most of the resources you have.

3. Test Series is the Secret

If there's one thing I wish someone had told me earlier in my NEET journey - a good test series is the game changer in your marks in any competitive exam. I am grateful to Way Test Series for the mock offline test I took with them. Turns out, the center they gave me for my simulation was my center for the final exam too. This gave me a huge advantage as I already knew the kind of environment I was giving my exam at. There were barely any fans, no clocks and strict invigilators but since I had already experienced it, I was fully prepared.

Regular tests help you get comfortable with the NEET exam pattern by simulating the exam experience. By the time you sit for the actual exam, it'll feel like just another practice test. Test series help you pinpoint topics where you need more work. Your brain also starts working better in these stressful situations after a lot of practice. Also, as you see your scores improve over time, it gives you a confidence boost. I'd recommend starting with a test series at least 6 months before NEET. Begin with topic-wise tests to strengthen your basics, then move on to full-length tests as the exam approaches.

4. Practice-Practice-Practice

If I had to sum up NEET preparation in one word, it would be practice. Do it through any means, but please practice every day. The theory will only help you so far in the NEET exam. Practicing questions is the fundamental truth of cracking this exam. NEET is about applying theoretical concepts quickly and accurately under pressure. That's why I can't recommend test series enough for NEET preparation. For me, it was the main source of practice.

After the syllabus was over, I started solving all the problems in NCERT. It made a good base for me and I was pretty confident too. Understand the concepts thoroughly before moving on to more advanced material. Remember, quality matters as much as quantity. Don't just solve questions mindlessly. If you got it wrong, analyze your thought process to identify where you went wrong. Try to connect the question to related concepts. I aimed to solve at least 100 questions a day, increasing this number as the exam approached. It might seem like a lot, but trust me, by the time NEET rolls around, you'll be confident with each coming test.

5. Chill out, relax & avoid burnouts

Lastly, you have to learn the art of relaxation in your free time. The NEET syllabus and the NEET life can be very overwhelming at times. With new information pouring into you every day, you must have the space to absorb it. Taking breaks and managing stress is just as crucial to your NEET success as your study schedule. Stay consistent with your schedule but avoid burnout.

A relaxed mind absorbs and retains information better. Short breaks between study sessions can improve your focus when you return to your books. Don't give up on things you enjoy. Whether it's reading, painting, or playing an instrument, engage in your hobby for short periods to refresh your mind. I used my phone during my breaks and it was enough for me to zone out from NEET stress for a while. Also, please don't isolate yourself completely. Spend some time with family and friends. Remember, relaxation isn't a waste of time - it's an investment in your mental health and, ultimately, your NEET performance.

Conclusion

At the end of the day, it is your journey and you have to do what works for you. I hope you learned something from my experiences! These 2 years won't always be smooth, but with dedication, smart work, and the right approach, you can make wonders! Give it your best shot, but don't let it consume you entirely. Maintain a balanced approach, take care of your physical and mental health, and always keep your end goal in sight.
